COURSES.

Students are divided into groups by their language knowledge through a placement test; the test consists of a written part focusing on grammar, vocabulary and reading comprehension, and a brief interview with a lecturer. The maximum number of students in a group is 15.

I. BEGINNERS
The students attend a practical course of Czech language with five classes (5 x 45 min.) every day. The classes are based on English, German or French (depending on the numbers of students in each group).

II. LOWER INTERMEDIATE
The students attend a practical course of Czech language with five classes (5 x 45 min.) every day. The classes are based on English, German or French (depending on the numbers of students in each group).

III. UPPER INTERMEDIATE
The students attend a practical course of Czech language with three classes (3 x 45 min.) every day. The intermediate language course includes a conversation class (2 x 45 min.). Students can also attend afternoon workshops in Czech.

IV. ADVANCED
The students attend a practical course of Czech language with two classes (2 x 45 min.) every day. For the remaining two classes, they select from an offer of optional seminars, including:

– Grammar and vocabulary exercises
– Writing and Speaking
– Czech life and culture
– Czech literature

Advanced students have three lectures a week (Mon, Wed, Fri) .

OPTIONAL CLASSES

In the afternoons, LŠSS students may choose from other alternative learning activities. These include in particular individual consultations in phonetics and thematic workshops such as:

  • language corpus workshop;
  • theatre workshop;
  • – architecture workshop;
  • – legends of Prague;
  • literary workshop;

The optional programme is prepared for students at all language levels.
